The ongoing World Cup 2023 qualifier matches are being held in Zimbabwe, featuring a total of 10 participating teams. On June 26, a match between Zimbabwe and the USA (ZIM vs USA) took place, which garnered attention due to an impressive bowling performance by Jasdeep Singh, an Indian-origin bowler playing for the USA. 

After taking his first wicket in the match, Singh celebrated in a unique style, capturing the interest of cricket enthusiasts on social media.

During the match, Team USA won the toss and elected to bowl. Jasdeep Singh claimed his first victim by dismissing Zimbabwe's opener, Masoom Kaiya, at a score of 32 runs. Singh's celebratory gesture, where he rotated his hands, has been widely shared by the ICC on its official platforms.


While Zimbabwe's team has displayed a strong performance in the qualifier matches, Jasdeep Singh, representing the USA, played a crucial role in breaking the opening partnership. He enticed Masoom Kaiya to play a shot, resulting in a catch toward the fine leg. 

Singh celebrated the wicket in a distinctively Indian style by rotating his right-hand multiple times. However, some Indian fans expressed discontent over his celebration, considering the opponent team.

Jasdeep Singh, born in New York City, USA, is a 30-year-old bowler who has taken 23 wickets in 24 ODIs for the USA. His bowling statistics reflect an average of 50.4 runs per wicket and an impressive economy rate of 87.804. While his experience in T20 cricket is limited, having taken 2 wickets in 20 T10 matches with an economy rate of 17.3.
